Q&A With Jorge Anzaldi

Marketing Executive Turns Rising Real Estate Professional

Q. What brought you to Laguna Beach?
A. Growing up for most of my adolescence in neighboring Irvine, Laguna Beach was always on my radar. Drawn to the beautiful landscape and deep cultural roots to the artistic and LGBTQ+ communities, my husband, Jonathan, and I made the move to Laguna Beach in July of 2020.

Q. What were you doing before real estate?
A. Prior to real estate I had an exciting 12-year marketing career that took me to major cities, including Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles. With a lot of hard work and many late nights, I quickly climbed the corporate ladder and built award-winning marketing strategies for brands such as J.Crew, Pressed Juicery, and IPSY. Print, digital, event marketing—you name it, I did it. In addition to that, I also spent time building digital strategies for luxury real estate developers in New York City, including Extell, JDS, and DDG. Looking back at it, working alongside those developers and the sales teams was likely when I first got the “real estate bug.”

Q. What inspired you to get into real estate?
A. All my life I have been surrounded by real estate with my mom, brother, and sister all being agents. One could say real estate is in my blood! Once I moved to Laguna, I couldn’t shake this feeling that I was ready for a new challenge. After many discussions with colleagues and friends, I finally decided to give in, take a leap of faith, and embark on a new journey as a real estate professional. For me, it’s the perfect fit. In a field that continues to evolve, I am able to bring my extensive marketing experience and couple it with my passion for people and relationship building. Because of my background, I am able to stand out and offer something unique to clients.

Q. Favorite part about working in real estate?
A. Providing great customer service. I truly believe that is the heartbeat of this industry. My many years working in the service industry taught me just how important customer service is not only to your business but for your soul. It’s all about respect and being a real human that communicates with sincerity, honesty, and kindness. Every client you encounter is unique, and I like to challenge myself to continuously find new ways to go above and beyond expectations and always anticipate their needs. The homes are pretty nice, too!

Q. What motivates you?
A. My mom—she is the hardest working and strongest person I know. She was younger than I am today when she took a big risk and immigrated from Mexico to California with her five kids in hopes of giving us a better opportunity at life. She was a single mom raising us all on her own while living in a country where she didn’t know the language. Over time she taught herself English, got her real estate license, and raised us all to be successful in our own ways. She is a strong, fiery Latina with a zest for life and I am proud to be her son.

Q. What do you do on your days off?
A. Trick question—there are no days off! But when I’m not doing real estate, I am typically spending time with my French Bulldog, Burrata, and my husband. I am also always reading a book and have an endless queue of movies and shows I want to watch.
