When you live by the beach it’s only appropriate for beach themed décor to be a popular trend.  Getting the look isn’t just about the big things; details play an important role as well. Tie it all together with the wonderful ocean breezes and you’ll feel right at home at the beach! Here’s a look at some helpful hints courtesy of Country Living.

One material that creates a coastal vibe is shiplap. The wood warms up the feel of the room and can be natural in color or painted white.  It’s a great architectural feature for walls that can create a cottage feel or a rustic vibe.

Nautical colors like white and blue are go-to choices. White walls are common in beach houses because they offer a light and airy look and wooden beams are a good rustic accent. Pops of color that include turquoise create a calm feeling that is reminiscent of paradise. Go bold with different shades of blue and then mix in some gray tones and neutral colors and you’ll be closer to mastering the beach home look.

Wicker and nautical colors instill a beach vibe no matter a home’s distance from the sand.

The entryway is a perfect place to set the scene. From a doormat that states your beach mantra to an inspirational quote about the beach hanging by your door, visitors will know from the second they step inside that it’s always beach time here.

An outdoor shower is another great addition to have at a beach house. This allows you to shower the sand off before entering the home.  If your beach home gets a lot of beach traffic, this is a must have!

Handwoven throw rugs with beach inspired colors are a great way to thread the beach theme throughout the home. They add some warmth to the floors too.

Wicker pieces like furniture and baskets are a perfect accompaniment. Inside and out, wicker chairs or couches make for a cozy seating area that is also able to handle wet swimsuits without damage. Wicker baskets are great for storage and displays as well. Grab some towels and stick them in a basket for easy access when you are heading to the beach!

Accessories like boats, shells, glass bottles and other seafaring objects displayed in the home continue the theme.  In the bathrooms you could even use shell shaped soaps for a little something extra.

Artwork of birds, fish, and waterscapes is a nice way to decorate the walls. They literally paint a picture of the wonderful beach scene!
