Newport Coast
Ron Dayan, a member of the British Institute Interior Design and design director for Beverly Hills Interiors, Inc., over the years applied his aesthetic to homes owned by celebrity industrialists to A-list actors.
For a Dubai plastic surgeon that purchased a Newport Coast home from a developer, Dayan opted to create an eccentric mix between classical and modern interpretations, which is the way Italian decor evolved.
The outdoors did not escape transformation. Dayan maximized its use with a lounging platform and a signed dining table made from compressed volcanic ashes from Italy. The Roman theme is defined with symmetrical boxwood hedges, stone-paved walkways and imperial lounge chairs to relax, or warm up by the cozy fire.
Italian mosaics feature prominently in the master bathroom suite. Marble mosaic floor in paisley pattern is reflected in the whirlpool’s tub apron, set off by mahogany vanity cabinets topped with Baroque-style mirror frames, finished in lacquered automobile paint. Hand-made in Venice, Italy, the Murano light fixture glows on an Indian silk shade, towel-warmer and adjustable TV, to complete the ultimate pampering experience.
Other design features include a dramatic living room painted in metallic pearl to reflect changing colors and hues seen through the wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling sheer drapery fabric.
